Hello!

Hello and good evening to anyone stopping in. Though I'm a Luddite at heart I have finally decided to join the web revolution and set myself up with a blog. First, a few words of introduction: I'm a professor of History living and working in Wisconsin. I live in the small town of Beaver Dam with my wife and two children. I teach a number of courses at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan, a local two year Liberal Arts college. My research interests center around Germany in the First World War and I am currently working on the reasons behind the German defeat in that war. That is one of the things I will talk about extensively here as I spend the summer doing research. However I also have abiding interests in a number of hobbies, in particular historical gaming. I have been a wargamer for over 25 years now (yikes!) and love to discuss new and old games. I have wide ranging literary interests aside from history and part of the time I may discuss books I'm reading or have read. I love heavy music and have been tinkering with a historical discussion of heavy metal that may also end up here; we shall have to see. Anyway, that's a bit about me. I'll try and post every night before I head off to bed with whatever happens to be on my mind that day. Until next time, welcome and I hope you find the site interesting.
